For your health
The more we understand about how our bodies work, our strengths and weaknesses, and potential problems down the line, the more we can do to keep ourselves healthy. Examining our own health records gives us the ability to learn more about existing concerns-- like allergies, high blood pressure, or cholesterol problems-- and be aware of health problems that might be a problem in the future-- like diabetes, arthritis, or deceases that may "run in the family".
In order to grow as human beings, we must continuously strive to learn more about the world around us, and about ourselves. We work hard to keep our minds, bodies, and spirits strong: at school, at the gym, when we are with our loved ones, and throughout our everyday lives. Knowledge is power, and this is certainly true when it comes to being able to review our own medical records.
